Well after the horrible night I had with the flight, and the fact we had walk all the east bank of Luxor in one hot day, It makes sense I will fall down when I come back to the hotel. I lay down a bit in the bath, letting the cold water run down on me to cool down a bit.
I woke up in 5:00 in the morning and I has to wait till 8:00 for the tour to the west bank. I went out to walk a bit on the streets, and a surprise was waiting for me
when I came back to the hotel….
A policeman to escort me when ever I walk 🙂
I didn’t want it and the hostel owner solve the problem for me – “Just write a note to the tourist police and give it to him”. That worked, he walked away and I was free to jump to the minibus to go around town to pick other tourists – among them was the American from yesterday (Finally got his name – Tom) that after all the talking yesterday about saving money took an organized tour…
Maybe because it so hot, or because it too touristic or you are expecting to tombs to be as they are shown in the movies – The west bank was not breath taking: The valley of kings, the valley of queens, Hatafshuth temple (or as everybody says “Hot chicken soup” 🙂 and end up with two statues that are all that left from another temple.
The guidelines was good – she cut the lines, had some humor and kept warning us that when the sellers says “1 Gene” they really mean 100 Gene.
I had a nice good nap (you cannot really do anything around noon here) after finishing the book “Jewish dog” and eating dries nodels (I was hungry but couldn’t move or eat something warm).
I finished the day with a nice round on the boat on the Nile (they call it “Sea”). Finally it cool down a bit and I could eat something, and to go talk with my roommate Tanya. She got a visa to Egypt but because of the strike in the foreign ministry they didn’t give it back to her. She gave me some things to do when I will get to Cairo.
Take care
