Religious

4 years.

We spent 4 long years in the Technion waiting for the moment. And what a sweet moment it is…

Who the hell talks about graduate!?

We talking about ruin the girl.

You see, when she first go the Technion she was a religious girl. She kept Sabbath, ate Kosher. She kept herself from touching boys (“touch keeping”) up to the level that she didn’t want to give us a “kif” (What you call “give me five”). Not even one that you pretend to give, just rise your hands and move it one toward another and stop in the air, to not touch each other. She was so Tznoa (modest) in her clothes and to not show her body – when she came with us to the beach she didn’t washed herself just sat on a chair and read a book, when anybody else are more than half naked.

But now… :-). Now she’s down in the beach with her bikini, in Sabbath morning! After she sat down with us yesterday in a bar, and drunk a beer in Sabbath. She touch, hug and kiss us…

That wasn’t my job. Half of it was her roommate that help her start with that. The other half was the two non religious boys she spent most of her time studying with.

Someone called the university “Church of the brain”. But not the knowledge that people earn here makes them less religious, but the change in the environment. Unlike the army, you don’t have the religious “cover” that people give you ’cause you might die. For young religious Muslim girls and boys and for young Jewish girls it is the first time they out of the “normal” religious environment. Not all of them will “return in a question” (become non-religious), but it is something that might happen.
