Oh Venice…
It was never a city I thought I have to visit, Not like Paris, New York, Jerusalem (probably, if I wasn’t lived there =). But once It came into my mind I going to be here, I hit my forehead saying “Wow!” it is a place I have to be to, and here I am!
What really caught my mind in Venice wasn’t the tunnels they have instead of roads (and because of it there are no cars in it), the Grand Canal that cross the city and her amazing buildings or the fact there are more tourists than people that really lives there – But the Doge’s Palace.
The fact that the republic of Venice managed to stand still for 1400 years is something that warmed my heart. True, it wasn’t a really democracy (neither was ancient Greek) but the fact it stood for so long time is something that, when looked from our young democracy of Israel, most be admired. We are also not a Democracy, but I think (or at least hope, we are on the right way =)
