Yosemite, California, USA
At the beginning, it drove us crzay.
Why they can’t write down how much it costs?! do I have to walk around with a calculator in my pocket so I can knoew how much things cost? (yes, I have a smartphone, but you don’t really expect me to walk around and calculate everything I buy).
We pay tax when we buy something in Israel, but you never know how much it is in money. I know the VAT is 18% right now, how much did I pay when I have bought my tomatoes… I really don’t know. You get a receipt, and in the bottom it written how everything costs, how much is the VAT and how much is the total bill.
So what’s the point?
I think what Atza, my wife, pretty sum it up. They are capitalists. They sell you something, they want you to know how much you pay them and how much you pay to the state: “What you pay me, is between you and me. What you pay as tax, is between you and the state”.
That’s an interesting point…
but why can’t you just tell me how much it costs?! >=(

And the bill is just the same as in Israel.
