Golan Heights, Israel
Hi,
Atza and I first wedding anniversary!
So we decided on a trip with a subject – Fire!… well, not exactly – more like Volcanoes…. inactive (dormant) volcanoes… =P
The only place we have volcanoes here in Israel is the Golan Heights. So we packed our stuff (we forgot a lot of things, like the Poyke pot, so we had to come back), and start driving.
The Golan Heights is basically a plateau. The only mountains on it are dormant volcanoes, this why the Israeli-Syrian border is starch along their line. we drove from one to another – learning about the Volcanoes, watching the view (Israeli an Syrian) and some history:
The Golan Heights were one of the fronts of Yom Kippur War (the other were Sinai) and almost every site has an heroic story of a fight.

The old bunker, were 28 soldiers fought for their life for 3 days. 
The Memorial for the soldiers that fought and died in the fight on this hill.

The Golan Heights is the only place in Israel where you have big scale wind turbines that works.
Bental Mount

The Post on top of the Bental. In Yum Kippur, this was the main base of the Golan Heights.
A view East on Quneitra Syria and the Border. It is hard to see Quneitra, but the Syrian left this city ruined and built a new one behind it.
