Yitav (Al-Auja) stream, Israel
Hi,
We went hiking in Yitav (Al-Auja) stream =)
And Apparently just in time – It is blooming time. Everything that in two weeks will be yellow and dry is now green and wet. It means that Atzva will sneeze all day long =/
But Atza did mind about it – she was too busy enjoying the view and the puppy…
After a very long time we finally met Yuzik and his girlfriend. And that also was just in time, because they had very good news to tell us =). Anyway – they have found a puppy on the road the hike and picked him up.
He was so lonely on the way, no mother, brothers or owners. Good for him they picked him. Yuzik girlfriend said he will be adopted fast. He is small, white and cute =)
Take Care
Gad
Amit, the organizer of the hike. He Volunteer and do amazing work!
Mount Kokav (Star Mount) above the settlement we started the hike in – Kokav HaShahar
The vineyard around the settlement and the post that will be demolished according to High Court decision.
One of the citizens of the post explain the situation and ask for help.
So Much green on the edge of the desert!
Wadi Kis (Kis creek) from above. The creek flows to Yitav stream
A small stream in Wadi Kis, and the puppy drinking from it =)
The long line of people. We gave up on being first, and took the all thing very slow….
The route (colored black) moved from one slope of the creek to the other, so we allowed yourself to jump ahead of it.
So much many flowers, and colors… We let the puppy enjoyed it for a moment….
… And a second later he was covered with paparazzi =)
Just after the raining season and those small streams still flows.
Along the way, Wadi Kis become very narrow and deep. You have to watch on what side you walk to get down.
The right side from the wrong…. Although it is the left side =P
Panorama view from the top of the cliff of Wadi Kis.
The Jordan Valley from the cliff of Wadi Kis.
Going down from Wadi Kis to Yitav stream.
Panorama view from the slopes of Yitav creek. On the left, the cliffs of Wadi Kiss.
The trail junction: The black (from which we come) goes down from Wadi Kis, and the red goes along Yitav creek
Ein-Auja (Auja spring) – Just look at the flow!
Yitav stream that goes out of the spring.
My Start-Up – take it from your pants and make it your sleeves!
In the desert, you want to cover yourself as much as you can. The direct sun light on your skin, heat you up a lot more than the effect of the long clothes on your body.
We were about to walk in the water and I was getting burned, so it was a perfect solution =)
Oasis in the middle of the desert. That place will be green even in a few months, unlike all that is around it.
The spring and the stream is a popular camping place for Arabs from around.
Some people come with their horses =)
The dam that divert the water to the Aqueduct.
Donkeys and a deer up in the cave.
The split of the Aqueduct, this part goes all the way to the places north of Jericho
The Shorthorn slope of the Yitav creek.
“The Kamikaza” – the largest water water slide in Israel: 300 meter long =) We didn’t slide in it, because we had no time. Anyway, we were warned that it dangerous and it is full of glass and nails….=/
The fastest way to go back up to Kokhav HaShahar, where we started the hike is via Tarik Abu-Gorge (A stiff curved way that climbs from Jordan Valley to Judanean Mountains) and enjoy the view.
