Atlit, Haifa, Israel
We lost =/
We. Not the left wing parties, but the people of Israel.
Bibi will be our prime minister for another 4 years.
I got nothing against him as a person or as a politician. On the contrary – I think he is one of the biggest politicians Israel had ever had. The fact he won another elections is the prove for it.
But I have full bucket of why he shouldn’t be a PM. He won the elections after prove he can stand against US president (fight with him over something that today no one remembers). After he sat for 6 years on the seat of PM and didn’t really move nothing: Not in the Social-Economic field and not in the Security field.
Will he do anything in the next 4 years? I doubt it. As they say – Why changing a winning formula? After all, it made him won another 4 years as PM.
Take Care

P.S.
After voting, Atzva and spent the rest of the day hiking around Atlit =)

The entrance to Atlit detainee camp.
A air photo and a model of the camp. 28 donams.
The “Welcome shade”. Here the illegal immigrates were written down.
The Sterilization building. Here the illegal immigrants had to take their clothes off take a shower, sprayed in DDT. Their were clothes were steamed.
You keep think about people that got here after the concentration camp in Europe, and how frighting it was for them to go through that again =/
Some of the original residents buildings of the camp that still stands today. Most of them were demolished during the years.
The toilets and showers in the end of the building.
The prisoners had no routine forced from the prison itself, except the demand to stay inside the buildings at night.
Some prisoners made art, some had professional courses.
Some wrote their names on the wall so other will know they alive.
An empty concrete base of a demolished building and sign that mention the fact the camp was also for Jewish that caught in an illegal activities against the British.
Some of the 8 watch towers around the camp.
The ship “Galina” that represent a ship that used to smuggle illegal immigrants to Israel.
Parts of the audio-video in “Galina” ship in Atlit detainee camp.
The immigrants were packed inside the ship, and were not allowed to go off the bed without permission. not even for the toilets.
The ship had communication room, hospital room…
The toilets were in front and the kitchen in the back.
In an heroic action on October 10, 1945 the Palmach units break into the camp and managed to lead 200 detainees into Kibbutz Beit Oren in the end of the creek in the picture.
Later the British decided to move the camps to Cyprus, where my grandparents were.
Another ship that might served the illegal immigrants.
Other buildings of the original camp.
The train wagons that used to move the illegal immigrants to the camp. Again – Think of the Holocaust survivors climbing into a wagon like this the climbed in Europe and sent the to the concentration camps
The trail between the fences, and British vehicles from that time.
The water tank on the top of the hill near Atlit detainee camp.
The view North form the water tank near Qarta ruins. You can see the Kurkar ridge that run along the shore. And the watch towers of Atlit detainee camp on the ridge.
The view south form the water tank near Qarta ruins. You can see the Kurkar ridge that run along the shore. And the ruins of Le-Destroit castle (we call it Qarta ruins for some reason).
The Haifa University form the water tank near Qarta ruins.
Atlit Castle form the water tank near Qarta ruins view. It is inside a military base and is closed for entrance.
The open in the Kurkar ridge for the Beit-Oren stream. Before it was opened, the stream stooped here and the place was a swamp.
