Amsterdam Netherlands
Sex, Drugs and Rock n’ roll
Not the heavy strong ones, but the gentle “drugs”.
In Israel, Marijuana and Hashish are considered as the devil. There is the phrase from a cult movie (Lemon Popsicle) – that the mom says to her drafted son – “Don’t you drink hashish over there!”. No, you don’t drink hashish if you wonder. But that’s only shows that people here are afraid but don’t really know about what.
Of course we had that “drugs” in Israel. For me it was never about being cool or about social pressure. After all, I don’t drink lots of alcohol. I had an opportunity and I took it. There was no chance that we would have caught.
So why use it here in Amsterdam? first of all because you can. Getting into a coffeeshop buy a joint and smoke, not like all the mass you have in Israel. Second – it is different than the common drug – Alcohol. It doesn’t make you puke or remove you from your common sense. Third – they don’t call it “fun” for nothing =).
So we had some joints and cookies. It removed Atzva back pains (It happens to her when she walks a lot). It made us both a lot happier and calm. It made the sex wonderful =P
Legal or not legal, we still sat outside our hotel on the dark point on the bank of one of Amsterdam canals and smoked like teenagers =)
Take Care
Gad
That is the view from our “spot”, where we used to sit down and to get high.
Basically the houses in Amsterdam are are not straight. Their fronts leaned forward to earn a little bit of extra space, they move to the side because of piles that moves with the water and of course because they are old.
I tried to take a picture of it, but all I got a picture they really shows how they looked to me when we were sitting here.
The space cookie, it seems it didn’t work good for us… to slow… =/
The Bulldog coffeeshop, as they say – the first coffeeshop in Amsterdam.
There are coffeeshop that are like branches of fast food chain, you just grab something quick and go.
But there are places like the bulldog that isn’t only about smoking, but about the atmosphere.
“Orange raid alarm – an orange was dropped down by the bartender in the shop above to warn the dealer of a police raid”, in the basement of the bulldog.
Amsterdam floating flower market – it is not really feels like walking on boats.
We cannot buy any seeds to take home (not even those kind of seeds) because of custom laws in Israel.
“I am Amsterdam” sign, and behind it the Rijkmuseum
Once you have canals all around the city, You have to know how to work in them.
The narrow streets of Amsterdam, with the fronts that leaned forward.
And the tilted houses
Amsterdam firefighters, with a boat for the canals =)
Most of Amsterdam buildings are made of bricks.
For someone that his thesis is how to retrofit concrete frames with masonry infill, it made me think how do they work out with it? How do they make sure it will stand an earthquake? Orm do they have that kind of a problem here?
Amsterdam urinates, I just wonder how you can pee when its getting really cold.
Waag, that was the city gate in the 15th century, in Niewmarket square
Waag (old church), in the Red light district.
Just a beautiful building, apparently someone lives here =)
And one that house a chines store near the floating flower market.
Amsterdam Central railway station
Westerkerk Church, near Anna Frank house.
People live on the canals of the city in their house boats.
Some of them looks they can lift their anchor and go, and some seems like they will never leave.
Amsterdam black signs, help you to easy navigate in the city.
It helped us a lot. Because the canals go in circles, it made us a bit of disorientation…
Klomp shoes, I found in my size (45 European), and they were like a little boat.
I wonder if I they really walk in them in their houses, they probably make so much noise!
I don’t what they were playing… But I think the guy lost..
The street remind me Jaffa street In Jerusalem, with the light-train tracks in the middle.
