Kiryat Gat, Israel

Hi,

Well, as it seems tomorrow the world will end…
Or at least Tel aviv…=P

Tomorrow the works on Tel Aviv light rail will start, and some of the streets of the city of Tel Aviv (The center of the biggest municipal area in Israel) will be closed.

The predictions are of traffic jams until Natanya and Ashdod, collapse of business and plague of rats that will go up from the tunnels.

Even if the above will happen , and even if more catastrophes will accrue (such as that the construction will take more than 6 years, because it will…) – Tel Aviv needs a mass transportation system.

Finally after 70 years of talking, and setting cornerstones those works has finally begun.

Long after Jerusalem first light rail line started to work (2011, and now the second line is under construction), and after Haifa Metronit 3 lines had started to work (2013) finally Israel biggest municipal area is about to have a public transportation system =)

Even now, before the works begun the public transportation has improved: driving on Bus lanes is forbidden and in forced by the police and Parking lots with shuttle service were built outside Tel Aviv to minimize the number of private cars that enter the city.

It is no longer only talks about public transportation and feeling that things are going in the right direction. There are results:
Jerusalem light rail – one line is working, second is under construction
Haifa Metronit – 3 lines are working.
Tel Aviv light rail – one line is under construction.
New railway to Jerusalem – under construction.
New Railway on I’zrael valley (on the old Jereel Valley railway) – under construction.
New railway to Karmiel – on construction.
– A railway connection between the Costal railway and Hod Hasharon station along Route 531 – on construction.
Ashkelon – Beersheba railway – on construction.

Take Care
