Semien Mountains, Ethiopia
Hi,
We didn’t do much today.
We were supposed to go up to a Pass, but our scout decided to make a mess.
It is pretty funny you have an armed scout. I thought this is something we only have in Israel.
In Israel they use as a security. But it isn’t clear what they do here: Guard you from what? terrorists? Eritreans? animals? locals that beg for money? The truth is that it is just a way to give people work Anyway, like in Israel they don’t bring their food and just pick food from hikers groups (you know that in advance). That is why the eat good =)
And they have old weapons, probably from WWII.
He really remind me a Scout, in the way he managed to lit fire.
As I said he made a mess: He decided that he isn’t paid to go up the summit (although he is paid per a day), And if we want to go up we have to pay him 500 Birr. (Pretty funny, but he knew how to say it in English )
We just decided to climb up the summit. He couldn’t have done much, just to follow us, as he was paid to do )
