Tze’elim, Israel
Hi,
In the IDF, we have two kinds of soldiers: The simple soldiers and the officers.
I, for example, a simple soldier. That usually means less responsibility (unless you are a commander… ). The regular soldiers stays in the same unit and doesn’t change their positions as they grew older and become veteran.
The officers on the other hand, usually, change their status: They going up in the hierarchy as they go veteran.
That means that younger officers gets in.
Now imagine yourself a soldier who served only two years in the military army, gets in to a unit that full of soldiers that about to finish their military service of 3 years.
You might think that this year isn’t such a difference but it is. Especially in those ages in which you are in army.
On the reserve anyhow – it sometimes gets into absurd. While the officer just got released from the IDF, and he’s 22 years. Some of the soldiers are about to leave the military reserve service, and they about 45 years old!
