What do you think about when you hear the word Malta?
I think about the The Maltese Falcon. Not that I ever watched it, (although that if I will tell it to Ima she will sit down the whole family to watch it ) or read it.
The second thing that cross my mind is that is the last country in the EU that did not allow divorce, until lately.
So we went to Malta, which is an island in the Mediterranean sea south of Italy, for our babymoon (I will explain in one of my next posts).
First of all It looks like a very religious country, the amount of churches here is incredible even for a catholic country. Second apparently most of Malta history in modern time can be summarized to: “We stood against the Ottomans invaders in 1565, and we stood against the Italian in WWII”. At least that was I had in mind after visiting Fort Elmo
Just later on I realized that Malta was taken over by France and later on by Britain, but those were not myths of to be proud of. Not like “We prevent the Muslims to take over Europe” and “We prevent The Italian spread to North Africa in WWII”.
– Grizzi is thank you, marhaba is you are welcome.
Just a nice pic of the clouds over the sea.
In old days, and even now, big part of Malta economy is based on route trades that run from North Africa to Europe.
Too bad, but it is not belong to Malta, the only natural resources Malta has is Salt and limestone. And yes, Ironically we flow to Malta with Turkish Airlines
Malta! – The Cliffs on the southern part
I can imagine it is a view from Judea and Samaria Area, make sense – Israel and Malta are both lies to the shore of the Mediterranean sea.
I’m not sure, but isn’t the Air traffic control tower needs to be a tower?
I admit that this sign scared me – Traveling to the middle east? I live there! Israel was not in the list of contaminated
The view from out room in St. Julian’s: Sea, Casino and a crane that probably controlled by remoter control (in Israel we have a man sits up there all day long…)
The fortress of Valletta and the main Gate.
St. John’s Co-Cathedral That was closed because of Malta Independence day 21 in September. So we set down in the restaurant in front of it and ate.
“I want those hugh shrimps!” – said Atzva. We always eat them peeled, so we didn’t know it is their normal size. And that you have to work to peel them off.
Walking in the alleys of Valletta – remind us the Old city of Jerusalem
I really can’t say why the handle of the doors are in the middle of the door – it seems so uncomfortable
Fort Elmo from the inside and a look to the bay. The new concrete tower is from WWII, and bridge is a new one, after the old one was damaged during WWII
A nice slab in fort Elmo – limestone plats on steel/wood beams
A small village on the shore below the fortress of Valletta and the bay
A Ferrari – where can you drive it in this small island
Religious icons in the walls of buildings
Upper Barakka Gardens – A nice view over the Grand Harbour. and the city. Each day, in 12:00 and 16:00 they shoot the cannons. At that time we were far in the other side of the city.
