Matzo and special sinks for Passover...

Passover and neighbor

Hi,
Passover is just around the corner, and all around people are cleaning and getting ready for it. I went to our supermarket, which is an ultra – religious  supermarket  and it is already ready for Passover: all the leavened bread is gone (we call it Chametz). But not only the bread – products that the producer isn’t sure that they are 100% clean of leavened bread are also not for sale, because it isn’t kosher for Passover.

I walked around looking for the peanut butter Atzva asked me to buy. It took me 20 minutes to realize that there is no penuat butter, and a couple minutes more why not: peanuts are fabaceae (Kitniyot), in the past it was transported along with the flour in the same bags. That is why Ashkenazi Jews consider fabaceae as Chametz. Yes, you can say it is ridicules – but then again we won’t eat bread for 7 days, so what can I say…

Matzo and special sinks for Passover…

There was and horrible smell in the bathroom in our office in Haifa. It really smell like there was a dead mouse in the corner. My smell sense isn’t the best, so I figured out it might be only me.

Yesterday we figured out what this smell was:

MDA workers are entering the apartment below

Police CSI are entering the apartmentPolice CSI are entering the apartment

The smashed door of the apartmentThe smashed door of the apartment

In the apartment below us used to live an old lady. The office moved there two years ago, and I wasn’t in the office in Haifa in those two years, so I don’t much about her. At least that is what I tell myself to make my to keep my conscience quiet…

After all a man died in the apartment below us lie dead for god know for how long – we, as her neighbors should have know something about it, no?

When I hear about those things in the news, I think to myself “how come people can be forgotten so easily?” – I guess i know the answer now…

Take Care
Gad
