Yom Kippur notes

Hi,
Some Yom Kippur notes:

  • I fast. Atzva didn’t. Apparently even pregnant and breastfeeding mom supposed to fast in Yom Kippur. My grandmother fasted about 64, when she was pregnant with Aba. He didn’t like it, and grandmother gave birth at the same day =)
  • What really hard about the fasting is that the time doesn’t pass. You are not allowed to use electricity nor work of any kind or drive. You supposed to be in synagogue all day long, but as a non religious all I do is read books and play some box games.
  • I used to go to sleep late at night and wake up as late as possible, even at 13:00. Those days it is pretty impossible. You get use to wake up early for work, and even if you didn’t – Jannaeus won’t late us sleep late.
  • Atonement is a ritual when you transfer your sins to a chicken or to money that later go to charity. It was the first time I did. Till now Atzva father use to do it to Atzva, and I didn’t have anyone to do it to. Now we have Jannaeus so we did for the all family. And we didn’t do it to Xuxa and Arieh as this lady does to her dogs…:
  • Yum Kippur alwasy connect in Israel also to Yom Kippur war, abut 44 years ago. Aba took part in it, and also in the last combat in the Egyptan frontier: Battle of Suez. He refuse to talk about it, as he refuses to talk about other wars. Here is a song written by a father that lost his son in Yom Kippur war, it starts with the sounds of the Shofar, that ends Yom Kippur final pray.
  • It hard to wake up and not drink something or even brush your teeth. If you manage to hold on, your tongue will become quite white as mine didtounge - Yom kippur
  • There is something in making you sit and think. I mean even If I had use electricity in this day, what would I do? watch another movie? write another post? What I would really happy to do? What do I really love?
  • And of course that in the end of fast my family tradition is to break the fast with a small sip of alcohol =)Martini - Yom kippur

Take Care
