Areas A, B and C in the west bank

Hi,
As we said, the West bank doesn’t belong to any country and the ruler is the IDF. Well, part of the West bank is under the Palestinian authority (the PA). Oslo Accords and the later accords divided the West bank into 3 areas with different levels of administrative divisions: A, B and C.

Area A – is under full control, both civilian and security, under the PA responsibility. Therefore Israelis are not allowed to enter those areas, and big red signs are warning Israel citizens not to enter them. Most of the Palestinians lives in this area and the minority of the Israeli settlers.

Area B – the security is under the Israel responsibility and the civilian responsibility is under the PA.

Area C – Is under Israel full responsibility (both the civilian and the security). Most of the Israeli settlers lives in this area and minor of the Palestinians. When Israeli politics talks about annex of the west bank – they usually talks about this area.

It is easy to remember it:
A = Arabs
B = Both
C = Shelano (the hebrew word for ours)

Take Care
Gad
