This area is mostly quiet, that his why when we got Battalion War room declared in 02:00 that there was an attack in Havat Ma’on it was shock.
We were on patrol on an Hummer and were one of the first of the forces to get to the place. It is a relatively lonely building on the edge of settlement. 3 Palestinians broke the lock, held down the teenager and started to fill a sack with what they could find.
Understanding that it was a criminal activity and not a terror attack, made me breath in relief – they could have killed him and not hold him down. The boy managed to scare them away with a plastic gun, and we were on pursuit down the valley to catch them, and to make sure they didn’t run up into the settlement.
By the time we got up to the settlement half the army got there. It got to the point an officer stood in the gate and prevent ant other forces to enter the settlement. The event ended when it was clear that none entered the settlement and the thieves run away.
