We decided to start taking Jannaeus to a activities more suitable to his age.
He did point out that never saw a caw or an horse or a camel…. 😳
On Sukot we took him out to the Tractor museum and to a small farm in the Green Village (HaKfar HaYarok), the next step was Biblical Zoo in Jerusalem.
Both Jannaeus and me were sick so we were looking for something close to my parents. One goat farm was closed, while the other was a bit too far.
The Dairy farm of Ma’ale HaHamisha was chosen.
Ima keeps saying they will move it sooner or later. And when it will happen, and new houses will be built there, it will be an excellent place to buy an house. The view from this ridge is absolutely fantastic.
The reason it will happen is that it is the last Dairy farm on the mountain in Israel. The rest have already closed, and this was also will be closed. In 2001 new requirements were set for dairy farm, and many were closed or merged. It was founded in 1939, with 300 cows and 150 babies. 3,400,000 litters of milk are sent yearly to Tnuva.
But in the meanwhile it is a wonderful place to spend a sunny Saturday morning with Jannaeus and Mindal. Feeding the cows and to learn how milk is produced… as another girl that visit said – “I will never drink milk in my life”…

Tzika Givon ZL (1949-1997). The new milking building was designed and built in 1994-1995 by a team led by Tzvika Givon, who started to work in dairy farm as a young boy. The milking building is in his memory.
