Peace with UAE ☮

Hi,
Peace with UAE. Or as they call it – Normalization of the international relationships with United Arab Emirates 🙂.

The biggest step we had with the Arab world since Israel – Jordan peace treaty. But this is something else. UAE has no border with us, and was never in war with us (Like Iraq or Iran we have fought in this way or another).

So what does it mean to normalize the relationships? Well, we do have informal connections – mostly commercial and military, as with other Arab countries. If you ask someone they will of course deny it 😉. As the delivery guy that worked with us and told us what and how he shipped things over there on 2000.

Normalizing it means I can take my passport and fly over with special reason to be approved by both Israel government and the UAE.

So what is the UAE? A confederation of 7 Emirates in the Persian Gulf, rich with oil. It has bigger population than Israel (9.9 million compared to 8), but 85% of those are foreign citizens.

As structural engineer there are many things to see: the highest building in the world – Burj Khalifa (163 stories, 828m high!), the artificial palm islands, Burj Al-Arab that designed as a sail and stand alone on an island (56 stories, 321m high), 105m high frame (it is designed as a picture frame 🙂), or Masdar city which designed to be the most ecological city with zero CO2 emissions.

It seems the main step forward this agreement was that Israel will put aside the idea to Annex the West Bank, or at least part of it. After years we have been told the deal peace for territories does not work, it seems it does work… only this time Israel does not annex it at the first place.

Take Care
Gad
