Golan heights Wind turbines 💨

Hi,
For many years there were’nt many wind turbines farms in Israel. There were sporadic wind turbines here and there:

On 1981 a demonstration wind turbine was set installed on Ma’alot-Tarshiha, Industrial area and others were installed along the years on the GalileeMount Gilboa, SamariaGush Etzion, Golan Heights and South Mount Hebron (this is the one I show on the last Military reserve there). All were installed between 1981 until 1988.

On 1985 a experiment wind turbine was installed on Bnei Tzfat mount on 1985 on Golan Heights, where the average wind speed is 7.2 m/s). After it was proven to work – On 1992 a Wind farm was installed on Mount Bnei Rasan  (1050m above sea level) where the average wind speed is 8.2m/s. For many years this was the only wind turbine farm in Israel, and in the Middle east (except the people of  until on Kalil, which each had a wind turbine). The wind farm was built by Mey eden company, which is a Israeli bottled water companyWind turbines

There are 10 turbines, each with a 30m columns high, with three 18m long wings  (each weight about 1.2 ton) and a generator of 600kW (total 6MW). They might seem big, but back at the time, those were the largest available and because the permit for the farm limited the number of turbines to 10, the largest to found were chosen. Now days, as the wind turbines are more efficient, the plan is to replace them with new larger ones.

Since then other wind farm were built: One on Mount Gilboa (14 turbines), the second on Ramat Sirin (11 turbines)

Now days the biggest wind farm is being built on Emek HaBakha (Valley of tears) – 30 wind turbines, 85m high, with 51m long wings which will produce 96MW. More wing turbines are designed to be built on Golan heights – near mount Peres and near the Druze settlements close to Mount Hermon.

Take Care
