During my military service I wrote a small post (well there was no were to post it) about the idiot.
I was the Idiot. But not in the current days meaning, but in its original content – an outsider. This is how I felt back then in the army – an outsider.
But now I really feel like an idiot, and it is because of a book in the same name by the Russian writer Dostoevsky.
I read it in English. Everyday in the morning I had been reading one page, which took me couple of minutes. The book has 618 pages… it means I have been reading it for a year and 8 months!
It is not longest book I have in foreign language. I have read 2/3 of Lord of the Rings in English (skipped the middle book). That was long time ago, when I was in high school. I really don’t remember how long it took this thick book.
Now days I read mostly technical professional structural material. This book was something different – a roman.
So why do I feel as an Idiot – because it was boring and I have insisted on reading it. And insisted on reading it in English, although I have found pretty soon in Atzva parents house…
