I never had electric toothbrush. It was not so common when I was a kid. When I grow I kept using a regular toothbrush although you could one in any drugstore.
I could say I thought buying one is too American for me. Mainly when I was at my Communism stage.
“How lazy you can be, that you cannot even brush you own teeth? So you go and buy an electric toothbrush?”
We bought Jannaeus one when he was 3 years old, old enough to use it. I thought it was better he’ll have healthy teeth and do it by himself than us doing it for him. He can learn how to brush his teeth when he’ll be older with better motor skills.
But I kept using my regular one, even when buying one was not so expensive. Until I have been to my dentist.
“You have not been here for 5 years”. He said. Not big deal for me. I know my teeth are in great shape, and I keep brushing them every morning and evening and he’ll tell me it himself.
At least I thought that is what he’ll tell me. Instead he start drilling in 4 of my teeth. I guess I did not brush my teeth as good as I thought I did…
So I bought myself electric one. Atzva bought one for the same reason. And not later we bought for Mindal (which was in a bag with a book to introduce it to her).
We now all electric toothbrush. Even Xuxa got one after the vet told we need to clean her teeth better.
