En Hemed Park 💧

Hi,
We spent the weekend in my parents house in Har Adar, and went down to En Hemed Park (link to National parks authority site here) with Saba, Savta and the kids.

En means eye in Arabic but also spring, so you can understand it was a wet morning. Unlike other springs in Jerusalem area, the pool is not the attraction here, but the small stream that flows down from it.

If you ask how come that spring has more water than others – the answer is the water are pumped in a close system. It is more a fountain than a real stream….

Never the less, the kids love it, and it is a cold shaded place with many cute spots to sit and enjoy Shabbat morning.

On the lowest point stands a medieval farm house from the crusaders time. With thick walls and vault ceiling rooms. The place is called Aqua Bella in Latin, which means beautiful water. And the Hebrew name, En Hemed, pretty much means the same.

The stream goes under couple of bridges: one I enjoyed looking on it from below , and second Jannaeus crossed over.
