It has been 21 years since the last Jerusalem Derby. Long time, very long time for as Hapoel Jerusalem went down league and only now it is back again!
Hapoel Jeruslem had managed to go down to the third league and to dissembled. While Katamon was founded as an alternative to the original club, what really happened couple of years ago 
This is the real Jerusalem derby, between Hapoel Jerusalem and Beitar Jerusalem. Not as the brother/ same team derby we had between Hapoel Jerusalem and Hapoel Katamon Jerusalem, when in its way down and the second on the way up and up.
And just to make the whole thing sweeter… we won! 1:0 Yes, it is only the Toto Cup, but It is still an historical event of Hapoel wins the Jerusalem derby.
It has been 30 years since Hapoel last won the Derby 30 years ago! The game was in YMCA football stadium (it was the last game in this stadium, before the two teams moved to Teddy stadium), and the main event that evening was Operation Solomon (the airlift of Ethiopian Jews to Israel).
