Hi,
We decided to spend our last day in Yosemite out of the valley, and went out to Mariposa Grove to watch the giant Sequoia trees.
The trail is only 3.2 km with height gain of 90m. But the way up from the parking to the grove arrival area was closed and we had to climb 3 km of into the start of the grove (with gain height of about 150m). It was all on the site, but we did not read it, just as we missed the announcements on works on the roads. Lucky us – once we got to the grove the kids decided to run and they just run all around it, up and down.
The first Sequoia tree we saw was huge. We tried to hold hands around it and covered only half of it. But it was only the beginning…
We climbed into the grove arrival area and saw and realized the easy way up is closed. The ranger that was on his way up, while we set there and thought about climbing up, said it was due to a major wind event on 2019 and caused 10 Sequoia to fall down. He also looked on Jannaeus and Mindal said they are the youngest hikers that day 🙂
But then we got into the grove and show those giants: some are standing and some laying down on earth. Each one is bigger than the other. Each one makes you stop again and admire how giant it is.
Until you get to the biggest of them all: The Giant Grizzly which is big as the statue of liberty 🗽. The nearby tree is with thd California Tunnel craved in it and let you stand inside it one of huge trees.

Big tree, isn’t it? We have’nt even started – Sequoia trees
This is a Sequoia tree, but just a young one
The closed trail up, the road is opened
Just like pines, Sequoia trees reproduce by fire
