The Truck and Transport Museum in Ramla is just near Atzva sister house. The place host many trucks, mainly older ones. So we spent our Sabbath day in the Museum and then visited her

Built by Taavura company that run trucks in Israel over 60 years, the museum show trucks from 1945-1980, trucks that used during War of Independece and Tower and Stockade. The sign shows one of the oldest truck before restorarion and after it. - Jannaeus taking Mindal home

Reliant Regal 3/25 (1966-1968) – Reliant was imported  started after the relationship with the Sussita manufacturer, Autocars co., was cut. The Regal was designed by the same team that did the Work on the Sussita 12, and from comes the visual similarity. 130 cars were sold in Israel, mostly commercial version and some of it pick-ups.

Dragon Wagon-Pacific (M 26) TR-1. During WWII the US Army had to upgrade its tank transporters and developed this vehicle that was nick-named Armored. It was heavier than the last version and with double anchors, it was produced by Car and Foundry (later on Paccar, owner of DAF) after the original designing company did not stand the specifications.

Autocar DC66 (1984) – the truck was produced by Autocar cooperating with the IDF to create trak transformer. It did not fit its design and purchased by Taavura and was upgraded with  120,000 LBS Clarck back axis to stand the heaviest delivery in Israel for 35 years: Missile ship, 350 ton Liheber crane (with 2 additional trucks), 310 ton turbine to Gezer power plant, 400 ton turbine to Tzafit power planet, 750 ton ship, 359 ton transformer.

Mack B 61 SX (1965) – During the 1950’s and 1960’s the main truck on Israel roads were Mack and Autocar trucks. There were around 450 trucks from Mack B series in Israel cooperatives and in infrastructure missions. I guess my Saba was working on some of those

 

Leyland (Albion) Super Cheiftain (1965) – Imported directly from Scotland for special uses. This car was used as firefighters car in Ramat Gan

Volvo N86 (1971) – A reliable truck, that was proffered by the municipal sanitary departments over the Leyland that was installed in Israel. The monopoly of car producers in Israel had limited the import of this truck.

Studebaker Transtar (1960) – on 1960 The Kaiser Ilin Industries Industries, the owner of production and assembly of cars in Haifa won the concession to assemble the Studebaker cars in Israel. 408 trucks were installed and some were even exported.

GMC FC-350 (1949) – The truck was one of first American aid shipments on 1949. Those trucks were assembled on IDF Kurdani base until 1961. Earlier GMC trucks were used to in Tower and Stockade on 1936-1939, when 52 settlements were set foot and defined to state to come borders.

Ford F-350 (1965) – On July 1963 the import of Ford Truck was resumed, after import of trucks was allowed along with the production of Kaiser-Ilin Wales trucks.

Chevrolet C30 (1965) – Import of Chevrolet trucks to Israel has started only after the market was open to competition of imported trucks.

Bedford TJ (1964) – The truck was imported to Israel starting from 1957. Bedford classic truck has been produced for over 35 year and still been used as main transportation in many countries around the world.

Ford D-Series (1980) – When the factory assembling the Leyland trucks in Ashdod was about to shut down, there was need to produce other trucks such as this. The production start in the direct help of Henry Ford. Between 1973-1983 more than 3,500 trucks where assembled in the Automotive Industries, Ltd. in Nazareth Illit, making it the most common truck in Israel during this time.

Ford F-6 (1952) – The popular light truck in Israel in its first years. More than 2,000 were sold till 1952.

Mack EH (1948) – Middle truck and one of Mack best products, this truck was belong to Zalman Loyt from Metula. The Diesel engine in this truck we replaced by gasoline engine in 1950. 100 trucks of this kind were sent over from USA as part of the American Grants on 1948. Trucks and buses of this kind run in Israel until the end of the 1960’s. On the 1980s the assemblies of Mack trucks in Israel has stopped and the market was based on European trucks.-  Truck and Transport Museum

Ford LTS 9000 (1980) – The trucks of this series first landed in Israel on spring 1974, during the shortage in heavy trucks. The marketing renewed on 1979 and the trucks were installed on Automotive Industries, Ltd. in Nazareth Illit, 180 units were assembled until 1985.

Mack DM867S (1980) – The DM was the hard version of the R, which was used for heavy infrastructure and concrete mixers. The driver cabin was moved to the left to allow better viability. Steel front was used in the Israeli version over the fiberglass which was used outside. Most of the Israeli 350 horse power engine.

Mack B 81 SX – Heavy version of the B series, with 4×6 driving and extreme rolling chassis (x = extreme). 100 trucks were surprisingly sold in Israel.

Sacania Vabis LS 110 (1970) – Rare version of the familiar Sacania truck with double back axis.

Diamond T 981 – Tank transporter that was used by the IDF from 1948 till 1967 (Six Day War). This is a 6×4 tank transporter that developed for the British Army

Caterpiller B-992 Big Shovel

Autocar DC series – Autocar heavy series for infrastructure and heavy transportation that have been upgraded during the years. The truck on the show was produced on 1979 and brought in from Lebanon on 1982.

 

We finish the visit in the museum with launch at KFC, Atzva favorite fast food. It can only be found in Arabic cities in Israel.
