Hotels

Hi,
I never liked the idea of hotels as a place to spend time in.

For me staying in hotels is for the idea of a place to sleep in. You would have get in, maybe have dinner or find a place outsid to eat in or go around the hotel to see what happens and go to sleep. And when wakes up, to eat breakfast and just go out, that is it.

It just a sleeping place, not the main attraction of the vacation. There are 5 stars hotels that built in a way you just go over and spends your all vacation in, like the one in Cancon.

But how exciting can the hotel facilities be than what you can see outside. In the end those are pools, dining rooms, saunas, jcuzzies etc.

Even in Cancun, when we spent couple of nights in a resort we went out to see what happens around other than staying in it 24 hours.

I am writting it down because we just been in Atzva sister Aufruf (Sabbath Chatan) in an hotel in East Jerusalem. Those are not even hotels built for Isreali families like the 5 starts in Eilat, where you have kids activities (Agadodo in the pool). And we could barely walk around the hotel as you have Ultra Orthodox Mea Shearim neighborhood were we would shelled with used diapers, or East Jerusalem Arabs neighborhoods were we might get stabbed.

The idea of many religous families of staying in an hotel in Sabbath is to rest. As I wrote – I do not like it, and combined with the fact we had nothing to do with the kids or where to go – it just made us all go mad

In the end we decided to have a short walk on the road to the building of the Italian Hospital in Jerusalem (which now hosts the Education Ministery, where Aba used to work).
