Bnei Barak Grain silos

Hi,
We went to visit the ceramics and Plumbing accessories supplier store for our new apartment (which I think I did not even write to you about 🙈). The store is located in the old Bnei Barak Grain silos, which are now used as commercial area in the north part of the city.

I must say I was more into the structure of those grain silos than the ceramic tiles we had to choose to cover our floor (our chose will accompany us for several decades so maybe I should have pay more attention to it….).

The complex includes seven pyramid shape silos and another high silo on the east side. All are connected in steel trestle used to hold a car that spread the grain from the high silo to the lower ones. It was built in 1930s’ by Mamgorot (“Grain Silos”) company, and they were out of use in 1980s’.

In August 2006, 3 accurate explosions demolished another grain silo complex in the area. It was the largest building demolished till then in this way (I do think the two 20 story building demolished in Gaza in 2002, and was part of, are larger).

The third grain silo in the area, is still standing, untouched. Waiting to be demolished or reused.

I could not find much information on those silos apart from it…

Take Care
Gad
