Bookkeeping – 13th day of war 📚

Hi,
While all are looking south on the war on Gaza strip, where Hamas keeps firing rockets and the IAF keeps bombing in the strip, the north border gets hotter. The situation in the north border of Israel, with Lebanon, is of bookkeeping between Hezbollah and Israel.

The bookkeeping is about the lives of soldiers and citizens. The idea behind it, is that the number of deaths of IDF soldiers by Hezbollah needs to be equal to the number of dead Hezbollah terrorists by IDF.

Israel, on the other hand, reacts by bombing targets or firing missiles from helicopter to any anti-tank missile shoot, mortar shell fired, or penetration attempted by Hezbollah along the northern border. No matter if those cost a life or not.

The fire towards civilian targets in Israel (on settlements and cities) comes only when Israel hit civilian targets in Lebanon first. That is at least what we can understand from Hezbollah reaction and the targets he chooses.

This is how this cycle of fire feeds itself, when each side reacts to the other side fire, and then again, the other side reacts to first side reaction.

This bookkeeping keeps the situation just under the definition of war, as none of the sides wish to let the situation slip down towards war. The situation may last for long time, and end when one of the side will decide to stop the fire (not reasonable at the moment) or in war (more reasonable).

Meanwhile, we sit down in our camp, hear the booms of the Artillery batteries around the Mount Dov and Mount Hermon and get ready for the Purple rain to be announced and rain down on us.

Take Care
