Kids – 94th day of war

Hi,
On Black Sabbath morning on the way back home on the car, Atzva and I talked English so the kids would not understand we were in war.

But kids are smart. It did not take long until the first police road block we had to explain to them why armored cops with masks on their faces allow stops us and ask if we are OK. I guess the kids did hear us talk in the morning already, and if not us, others, about Gaza surroundings situation. We tried to walk between the drops and to avoid saying out loud this is war, but they can understand.

Even now, we are avoiding talking about the hostages in the house and the situation in general. Definitely not to mention the word war.

But then you find yourself listening to them playing and talking. The completly in the situation: Jannaeus explains to Mindal that Hamas had stolen people from their houses, and it holds them in the tunnels underneath the ground.

If there was a point, I did not know what I would do when we were stepping outside Mindal kindergarten. Just in front of it stands a bulletin board covered with commercials for kids’ shows.

And there, just in the middle, was Kfir Bibes picture with a red headline: Kiddnaped. The kids sometimes stop in front of it, asking or telling me who is there on the pictures. If they ask me who is thi red head baby, what would I say? His country could not protect him and his family? His parents could not protect him? Does nobody know where he is? That the soldiers are all looking for him in Gaza strip.

Lucky for us, they are kids. They do not completely understand all of it, even if I tell them Kfir (and I won’t) has nothing to eat, he might not sleep, and he might be dead – they will probably to sleep happy. Or sad if I will not let watch enough TV.

Take Care
Gad
