We are on a slippery slope in the north border of Israel with Lebanon. The bookkeeping of Hezbollah is keeping the same pace when each day seems to be more intense.
Two weeks after the kiddnaping of IDF soldiers and beginning of 2nd Lebanon war, Hassan Nasrallah had a speech that might surprise you. He said, “If there was even a 1 percent chance that the July 11 capturing operation would have led to a war like the one that happened, would you have done it? I would say no, absolutely not, for humanitarian, moral, social, security, military, and political reasons. (He was referring mostly to damage caused to Lebanon by IAF bombing during the war on Beirut and Lebanon).
Rhis is how this not yet war looks like: IAF assassination in Saleh al-Arouri, Hezbollah attacks the base on Mount Meron with anti-tank missiles. IAF kills the commander of Hezbollah Redwan Force. Hezbollah attacks Northern Command HQ with a UAV . IAF kills Hezbollah UAV unit commander.
All this above the regular daily attacks on the empty settlements along the border with Lebanon. The slippery slope might end in war, which is on its edge for the past months.
I understand that I am going to go back to a different northern border than it was a month ago. First of all, it will be the Lebanon border and not the Syria border, which is still quiet. The Lebanon border is suffering from an endless amount of mortar shells, UAV, missiles, anti-tank missiles, and penetrations. But, as I wrote, each day seems to be more dangerous from the day before as Hezbollah keeps raising the level of attacks (as IAF does as well).
The war in Gaza keeps causing injuries and deaths to IDF soldiers inside. 9 soldiers were killed yesterday, and most of them are from the elite force of Engineering Corps – Yahalom.
