It’s raining – 122nd day of war

Hi,
Although when mostly when we talk in Israel of dripping, it is not clear if those are drippimg rockets from Gaza or light rain, now it’s raining. And it has been raining for about the last 20 days all around Israel.

It has been the longest raining period for the last 32 years since 1992. I remember that year as the big snow. Aba says they had to use army vechiles to supply bread around Israel).

Those news are a small escapism on those days from the war on Gaza strip, the hostages that still held there, and the daily announcement of IDF soldiers’ deaths. That escapism is something we definitely something needed on those days.

But it might not be completely connected to the war. 1973 winter started pretty warm and during the war, it was quite warm and dry. But it got very colder and wet as it got to its end, and the spring was much cold and rainer than it usually is. I read an article once that claimed that the gun powder used in the war created the condition for that winter.

The same article (or maybe another?) claimed that winter of 1992 was so intensive because of the first Gulf War (Operation Desert Storm) – again, the amount of ammunition used and the gun powder fired in the war created the condition for the extreme weather.

So, it might be the war in Gaza strip is the reason for this long period of rainy days we got lately.

Take Care
