As I already spent pretty much time around the Jordan River sources, I finally managed to get them organized in my head with their different names.
The first and biggest source is the Dan River, which I wrote to you about a couple of days ago. It supply, annually, About half of the Jordan River water and it flows in a steady rate all year around. It flows almost only out of the Dan spring, which is the biggest Kerstic spring im the Middle East, and you can visit in Tel Dan Nature Reserve.
By name , this stream is the easiest to remember as it got almost the same name in Arabic: El-Dan, which means The Dan. Easy and simple.
The second source, not necessarily by contribution to the amount of water, but it is the longest stream, is the Hasbani. I wrote to you about the valley the stream is flowing in this post. There are many places to visit the take a dip in it, one of the best is Snir Stream Nature Reserve.
The stream flows mainly out of Al Wazzani spring in Lebanon, but also collecting rain water, which makes a difference in the current between winter and summer and between different years.
Now things get bit complicated as the Arabic name, often used, for this stream is Hasbani. It’s not a big mess, but it’s a bit more complicated.
The third source, out of the three main tributaries, is the Banias stream, which flows out of the Banias spring on the foot of Mount Hermon. You can visit in Banias stream Nature Reserve and enjoy the waterfall or visit lower Banias stream with the Syrian tank in the water.
Now, the Banias also called Hermon stream and it is underneath Kibbutz Snir. Not to be confused with The Snir (Hasbani) that flows on the East of the Valley. And that it’s about it
