Hi,
Between all the sirens, the anti-tank missiles (that were shot on another team), the endless bombing (our artillery which sits very close to us or Hezbollah high-trajectory bombings), walking around which bullet proof vest and an helmet in your hand (for alert level 2) or sitting in the protected area (for alert level 3), sitting a whole night in an infantry ambush – sitting on the bank of the stream and watching the flowing water on the streams the Jordan river sources gives me a bit of escapism.
The joke goes a man can endlessly watch 3 things: A pretty woman, flowing water and burning fire. Another version goes saying it about: another man working, flowing water and burning fire.
I think the second version is the correct one (the one with the working man), as you cannot watch a pretty woman without ending up doing something about it….
I do remember myself waking one morning in the Quimza Cruz trek (watch out – Hebrew) in Bolivia, in my big after army trek. As they were all still a sleep, I climbed up to the near waterfall, and set watching it. I do not really remember how long I was watching it, but in the end one of my friend sneaked in behind my back and whisper slowly in my ear: “A man can endlessly watch 3 things: A pretty woman, flowing water and burning fire”
Looking back on the e-mail I sent back after the trek to my family and friends, I even gave the trek the phrase above as a the trek slogan
Take Care

The flowing water of one of the Dan river diversities in Dag Al-HaDan, I can just sit down and look on those beautiful cascades for hours (except for the times I have to stop and pee…)
