Eating quietly

Hi,

It was in my military service days. I entered one of the room in our military post (more kind of a bunker ) and saw my friends sit down with a cup of tea ☕ and dip their waffles in it.

Of course I laughed at them. Who drinks tea in the army (except me)? And who in the world, except old British people an me, dip their waffles 🍪 in their cup of drink?

“Shhh… they said, they can hear you”.
“Who?” I asked, “The terrorists on Gaza strip?!”
“No, the soldiers in the next room”.

Yes, we were hiding our waffles from the other soldiers, who were in our company, but in a different squadron. The way was eating quietly. You may say it is a little egoistic. But when you have to share each package of sweets with 40 people, you have nothing left for yourself.

There is even a word for it in Hebrew – Leharish. It really means to not talk and be quiet. But people usually means it as Keeping things hidden and quiet.
But none of it was new for me. I can say I have invented the “eating quietly”. Not because I can’t stand people that eat loudly. But for growing with 4 brothers and sisters 👧👦👦👧

If you wanted to eat something and not share with 4 more people, we were hiding and eat quietly. I still remember eat quietly a big package of Bamba in the kitchen balcony, all by myself!

Just like I did yesterday, with a small package of Bamba. And like we do today with most of the sweets in our house. Hiding them up the kitchen shelves and eating them away from our children eyes. We don’t want to grow up and it those unhealthy things. Like we do….🤣

Take care
Gad
