Why the hell do they put a milestone up here?!
No way any kind of road passed on top of this mountain, there are some much easier ways to walk around it.
As I come closer and read what is written on the sign next to the stone, I found out it really isn’t a milestone –
It is border stone.
I always forget that modern Europe is pretty young. That stone symbols the border between Italy and the Austro-Hungarian Empire that was set at 1899. It was changed in WWI (~1916) – not more than a hundred years ago!</br>
It somehow makes me take the Israeli – Arabic conflict in preparation. Long ago I had understood that we won’t manage to solve it during the during my life time (for my opinion =). Seeing that Europe did to kind of managed to solve it problems (yes they are in a economic catastrophe but that don’t kill each other… well not till now) only after a long time… Well make me feel a bit better seeing that we are only after hundred years of conflict =)
