Protesting

Judicial reform protest 👩‍⚖️

Hi,
About 100 thousand protested at Azrieli junction tonight against Bibi and Yariv Levin Judicial reform. And 30 thousand more in HaBima square, Jerusalem, Haifa and Beer Sheva.

Their idea of Judicial reform is to weak the judicial system in Israel. You might say it is pretty clear why Bibi wishes to do so – he is under trial and might be sentenced to prison.

Some will say he wishes to change Israel’s politics to make it better, to finally allow the right-wing politics to rule Israel without the left-wing Judicial system holding it back. But Bibi is using the Judicial system as a fig leaf when he knows he cannot pass rules. For example making Aryeh Deri, a convicted political (when convicted had agreed not to become a minister again) a minister in his new government.

But in the end, trying to avoid his trail, Bibi will break the balance of powers. Between the legislature,  executive, and a judiciary, it seems the first and 2nd are already unbalanced and only the judiciary are preventing Israel becoming a dictatorship.

Last week protest there were about 80 thousand protestors at HaBima square crowding under umbrellas. It was a show of political power as people were gathering although it was raining and it was the largest protest since the 2011 social protest.

The number of protestors is raising from week to week as well the locations of protests, and that is what we want to see the stop Bibi and Levin from making the reform they wish for in Israel Judicial system.

Take care
