Haifa, Israel
Hi,
I guess you didn’t hear about it, why should you?
I didn’t hear about it, and if you ask some random person in the street he would probably say the same. Aviezer didn’t die in an heroic fight against terrorists, nor he died in the a war against the army of an enemy country…
“Searches for a missing from a settlement” it was said in the morning.
You really have to read between the lines to understand that “A body found at noon near a base in the Bika’a near a base, might be a suicide” is the missing from the morning.
We realized it only after we knew the connection.
I guess you can say that he lost in the fight for his life. He is not the first that commit suicide during his military service. In the grave next to him, in the small graveyard of Dolev lie another soldier that took his own life.
But the IDF will not talk about it, nor the press or TV. We don’t like our soldier soft emotional, we want the hard and strong.
We want them to risk their life for the body of their friend, or dying while saving citizens.
We don’t to think of them as 18 years boys and girls.
Eishton (= paper person) run a crusade when he tried to realize how many IDF soldiers commit suicide.
It was a shock – in 2012, more soldiers commit suicide than those that die from terror attacks or fighting in Operation Pillar of Defense.
Before that blogger brought that subject up, nobody realized it.
The IDF, react in the way that IDF react when they fail to hide someone, or when the don’t like what one says – they blamed him for anti-patriotism or for a threat to the security of Israel.
It was a long journey but he brought that subject up… to bad we forgot it again…
Take Care
