Hi,
I feel like having the sword of Damocles hanging above my head.
It is pretty clear there will be a war on the north. The fighting along the Lebanon border can not continue this way for years, when dozens of thousands of the citizens that used to live along the border had to evacuate, leaving empty settlements behind them.
We all assumed this would only happen after the war in Gaza strip would end. The hostages will be released, Rafah will be conquered, the underground tunnels will be demolished, and the strip will be disarmed from weapons. In other words, it will take time.
It did not feel urgent or something near. None of us thought we might be called back again so early. And none thought we be called back to serve in the south – in the war in Gaza strip.
But that might be. There are talks, and even more than talks that we will be called to enter Gaza strip as a sapper battalion of engineering corps to clean up the underground of the strip.
I do not why the fact we might cross the fence and enter Gaza strip frighten me more than the fact we might have enter Lebanon for a war. It might be the fact IDF soldiers had already crossed the border and it is more realistic for me.
It might be that the fact that I have been inside Gaza strip for several months, and I have my memories, and feelings from there (which are obviously not good), are more clear than enetering Lebanon which I had never been to (I was not called for 2nd Lebanon war which was).
And until the order will be given (or until they will cancel the operation), Atzva and I feel as Damocles sword is above our head.
Take Care
