Hi,
I am planning on setting a wind turbine in my parents house in Har-Adar. In EWB We made a turbine with the guiding of Comet-ME course. I went down to where they live and work to see how they set up the pole on which the turbine sits.
The Arab village around here have no water supply nor electricity, unlike the Israeli settlements. Those, as illegal and some as they are have it all. Those wind turbine produce and provide some electricity for the those villages.
Comet-ME center in the Southern hills of Mount Hebron
On the ridge above the center you can already see many turbine spinning in speed.
Near the center the base of the pole is ready installed in the ground.
The valley below the center, typical view of this area.
The water supply here, in the Arab villages called “Hirbe” (=”ruins”), is based on cistern and wells
Goats are sheep herds can be seen all over the area, and they are one of the main occupation of the people here.
Comet-ME center building. An ecological building – Made of mud and straw, gather water on the roof tank and in the cistern, and produce electricity by using solar panels on the roof. Very soon it will also have a wind turbine on its side.
Another view
From within
The wind turbine body, home made by Comet-ME.
The cave below the building is used to hold the batteries (on the right) and the electrical panels.
It is also used to store equipment and dwelling area.
From another angle.
As we were working, Jet fighters kept tumbling the air above us. It seems it is a preferred route for the pilots.
A construction for future solar panels.
A model of the turbine mast, used to explain how it being raised.
The base of the mast was installed in advance. It is anchored into the rock using epoxy anchors.
To the side of the base the electricity box is installed.
The anchors for the cables of the mast also pre-installed
The base and the electricity box from the other side
The longer pole of the mast. In the shadow the shorter pole can be seen.
The shorter pole being installed
The cables
The winch to pull up the mast
Connecting the mast to the base
Securing the cables with omega
Securing the bolts of the mast
Connecting the cables to the top of the shorter pole
Setting up the shorter pole
And the shorter pole is up. It used as a lever to pull up the mast of the turbine.
Lifting the mast up
Pulling up the mast
Pulling up the mast
The mast is going up!
From a different angle
The mast is up!
Securing the cables
Releasing the winch
Visitors from around watching the show
Last checks and connections in the turbine body
Fastening the bolts of the wings
The wings waiting to be installed
Connecting the cables of the turbine
And the cables to the electric box
Taking down the mast to install the mast
And it’s down
Bringing the turbine body
Install the turbine body on the mast
Connecting the cables to the turbine body
Installing the tail of the turbine
Installing the wings
The wings are on
Fastening the bolts
And the army is also interested in what’s happening
Taking up the mast on the second time
And it’s spinning!
The cables are hold in case the turbine will need to be
The turbine on the top of the mast
And the electricity is running! =)
Take Care
