Metula – 173rd day of war

Hi,
The streets of Metula seems like from a war scene in a movie. Many of the northern houses of the moshava are burnt or destroyed from rockets or anti-tank missile shoot at the town over the Lebanon border by Hezbollah.

Burnt cars are standing in the middle of the road as there is no point of moving them when you can drive around, or take the chances to get hit by an anti-tank missile as this car was hit.

Many of those building are historical sites  from the time this Moshava was settled on the north of Israel, and set its northern border for Israel along with other Kibbutz (like Kibbutz Dan) and Moshavim.

Atzva and I visited here about 10 years ago, when were offered a free ride (we did not have a car back then).  We walked around the town, had a small hide along Ayun stream, and visited Canada sports center. It looks like it was in a different world, before October 7th and the fighting along the border.

Now the north is empty from citizens and visitors. My co-worker has been sent there and they spent most of their time in the protected areas, as we did during the 5 years of our line.

Take Care
Gad
