Hi,
Pretty funny to tell you about Hot spring canyon hike, which is not far away from your house.
But as you does not respond I will go ahead 🙂 Who knows, maybe I will reveal something new also for you 😉
We spend the night, by the way, in motel 6 in near by Carpinteria what gave the kids the feeling of American motel. We tried the beach, but even sitting outside was too cold in the evening.
It took us around 15 minutes by to the headtrail. We read it has small parking lot, and even as we got there by 7:30 it was packed.
The hike is only 1.5 km each way, but this is a stiff way. It was hard for Jannaeus and Mindal to go up. The route is marked pretty good, and most of the time you just go stright. Pretty close to the end you have to cross the creek to left, it does not marked and we missed it. If you see the way straight is blocked and the right route just takes around the hill – go back and take the left turn.
The hot springs are great! 4 pools are fed by the top spring pipe, and as the water flows down it cools down. This way you can find the temperature that you like 🙂
The way down is fast, and we were happy to clear our parking space as many other waited for it. Altogh I don’t see the point of getting there in midday.
We spent the rest of the day driving to Sam Simeon. We took a small detour to Sovlang, a beautiful town founded by Danish who still hold to their old tradition. It is build as an old Danish town! 🙂
