Hi,
As the second wave keeps accelerating Israel is about to enter the second curfew. Half a year after we had the curfew of Passover, we now have Rosh Hashanah curfew.
This curfew is mainly political. Some claims the whole idea is to prevent the protests against Bibi. But even if not, the Israeli government does not have the political power to have strict curfew over Red Cities. Those cities are mainly Arab and Haredi (Ultra Orthodox), while the first almost no political power the second are the strongest political power – they decide who will be the prime minister.
At first the idea was to have curfew only on those cities, but the Haredi parties threaten to overturn the government. So the curfew became only night one and even that was too late.
And just like in the army, when one fails all have to take responsibility. When the government realized the only way to have curfew on Haredi settlements, is if all be under it too – it had declared on full curfew. That is funny 🤪 as the Haredi declared they will not respect the guidelines… Meaning they public will break the law (I wonder what the police will do with it 😒).
This curfew is somehow less worse, but still bad is it can be. The kindergarten and schools will still be closed (for the non-religious), you are allowed to be as far as 1km away from home (instead of only 100m) and now we also need to wear masks. At least the playgrounds and the train are opened now and we are allowed to run outside 🙂. The synagogues will be opened under restrictions although proven to be places of high contamination.
It is basically a curfew for non-religious. Because the Haredi will not be affected as much as they say. This is of course political decision.
So the whole country is getting in to second curfew for the holidays. Atzva and I, as other Israelis usually need to decide with which side to spent the dinner. That at least was solved as we are not allowed to get away more than 1km away from home, or to visit in another person house.
In general Atzva and have rotation: each holiday is spent with another side. This way we have Passover one year with my family and in the next with Atzva. As we were thinking how to reset the rotation due to the first curfew, this one solved this issue as well.

The playground is full, and most of people are with masks. Compare to first round, where it was closed
