Hi,
After the Coronavirus guidelines in Saturday, and stricter guidelines yesterday, the health minister decided on even stricter guidelines – which with the above leads us to a state of Coronavirus half curfew:
People are demanded to avoid the public space; getting out is allowed only to buy food, medicines and medical care; not to host or to be host; public transportation will be stopped from the evening; no after-school activities and more…
It isn’t surprising. The only way proven so far to prevent the Coronavirus to become an epidemic plague in China was a hard curfew.
There is already one settlement (Telz-Stone) in Israel which is under full curfew. There are 8 cases of Coronavirus, and 1,500 people in Isolation out of population of 5,500. You cannot say it was unforeseen – it is an Ultra-Orthodox settlement. When the schools were closed by the order of the government, the Ultra Orthodox schools were kept open.
Another which is under Coronavirus half curfew is a neighborhood in Modi’in, which has 9 Corona cases (see the video).
I know this curfew is about the only to stop this virus. But taken into account the political situation, it somehow feels some playing tricks on us. We are still temporary government and a Prime minister that was supposed to be in court, if not for this Coronavirus crisis. And he uses his daily announcement to the public to call for emergency government. If it was not for him, we wouldn’t have had those elections….
On top of it, and as Prime Minister Bibi promised, the Shin-Bet will monitor all the smartphone of people with Coronavirus. Again – It is clear that it will help the public health, but we have no parliament (the Knesset has yet to start working) to object to those unusual activities. Leading to temporary government who takes actions far above any stable chosen government could have taken without been opposed.
Take care
Gad
