Hi,
As we sit down and wait for something to happen or not happen in the north, we keep acting as a Rovait company and upgrade our fighting gear. Every fighting gear, weapon, or weapon part you wish to say now is above the average the IDF supplies are now called tactical gear.
You got tactical gloves, tactical shirts, tactical vests, tactical pistol grips, tactical hand guard, tactical stock, tactical magazines, tactical magazine doubles, tactical helmet, and so on.
In my days in the mandatory military duty, we had a different name for it – terror. We had terror vests, terror stock, terror pistol grip, and so on.
It was not because they were used by terrorists (Hamas, Hezbollah, or Islamic Jihad). It was because most of these were first introduced on counter terrorism units (such as Israel’s National Counter Terror Unit – Yamam). The rest of the IDF units had followed it.
At some point, it changed to American – (or was it the other wsy around?), American hand guard, American pistol grip, American helmet, and so on.
That makes much more sense as those parts are probably American, as the M-16 is in the first place. Having said that, some of those are made in Israel but are still named American for some reason back then.
I do wonder how this tactical gear will be called in five or ten years, strategic gear?
