Operation Shield and Arrow – day 5 – Irony

Hi,
Fifth and last day of Operation Shield and Arrow, and the number of fatalities had kept rising on both sides and brought some tragic irony to it.

While on Gaza, 33 were killed during the operation (10 of them were civilian killed on the bombing that opened the operation). There was only one fatal casualty in Israel, at least until today.

A rocket landed in Israel in a construction site in Shokeda (a settlement on Gaza strip surrounding) had wounded two workers: one moderately and the second severely. The second had died from his wounds later today.

The two workers are Gaza citizens, and as many Gaza citizens, they pass through the border crossing each day to get to work in Israel. I can only guess that they had stayed in Israel because they could not go back to their families (and not because they felt safer over here). The idea of one of the rockets launched from Gaza strip towards Israel is just tragic irony. A rocket launched from Gaza, in order to kill Israeli civilians and to damage the economics, kills a Palestinian from Gaza that came to Israel to bring money to Gaza to feed his family.

The operation had ended with a cease fire, taking place at 22:00. Has operations such as those ended, the rockets from Gaza strip continued for several more hours. Some of those were launched towards Tel-Aviv, as to remind the fight is about the end – but the war continues.

Take Care
