Ami Eshed, TA police cheif, had resigned today. Ami was accused by the Itamar Ben Gvir, Ministr of National Security, for using soft hand against the protests against the judicial reform, (but also before, during the Ethiopian riots). As a result Ben Gvir planned on transferring Eshed from its position, but was stopped by Attorney-General Gali Baharav-Miara.
The reason for his retirement was the unreasonable demands from Itamar Ben Gvir during the protests. According to Eshed the police could have clear Ayalon in minutes in a cost of shuddered heads, crushed bones, an ER with injuries and at the price of shattering the trust between the police and the citizens of this country. Instead of trying to calm down and focusing keeping the law and order with minimum force.
The result was a night of protests, similar to Glant night of protests, but more organized (as the protestors are now organized under Kaplan force) and more violence (either because Eshed did not command the police, or because the police starting working as Ben Gvir wish it to do – in violence)
Ayalon Highway were closed for a short time during Ami Eshed speech and later, along with protests around the rest of the country, for several hours.
In Monday, Kaplan force, had protested against the judicial reform in Ben-Gurion Airport. Preventing the use of cars and buses to the enter or exit the terminal. And for Bibi statement that no democracy allows to protest in the Airport, we can only say USA, Germany, Italy, UK, France…
