Hi,
Is this how the end of Democracy looks? Is this what we are watching? Unlike Dictatorships that fall in a violence, Democracies slowly fade away. Piece by piece, law by law the moving from a 3 branches regime, to a regime that led only by the government and its leader.
It is the 4th time I Protest during Sabbath nights, at weekends (out of 8 weekends of protests). But that is about what I do.
Unlike in 2011, when I was a student at the end of my undergraduate degree, I am now in a different situation. I work a full job* (and in full I mean during the weekends and at nights), I have 2 kids* and Atzva is hopefully pregnant and we’ll a baby soon.
The juridical reform is threatening the rest of my life here. Like a chronic pain
But I don’t find the time to go up to Jerusalem on Mondays and protest. Apart from the day-to-day routines in Israel, we find ourselves dealing with even more issues; a strike in the children’s kindergarten from now to now; my bikes that have been stolen just under my office during my workday in a clear light; a mortgage on the new apartment that keeps rose as the interest rises and the other side higher costs of the apartment as the price rises due to the inflation; and inflation that makes the cost of everything costs more. And in meanwhile it seems the end of Democracy in Israel is getting closer.
This week there are 160K in Tel Aviv, 30K in Haifa (both Tel Aviv and Haifa are the largest since the protests had been spread) Thousands in Jerusalem, Thousands in Ranana, and more around Israel. The protest seems to spread as well as increasing in numbers.
