October 7th 2013 – Jeurusalem, Israel – Maran Ovadia Yosef funeral

Jeurusalem, Israel
Maran Ovadia Yosef had died today. We can learn that he was a great man, he had a lot of important actions. One of it was that he let woman that their husbands were “missing in action” in the 1973 Yum Kippur war, to marry again. That when deciding that those man have died during the war, and none knows where are their bodies.

We can also see how important he was, when hundreds of thousands of people (some say 850K, some say 600K) have flooded the narrow streets of Jerusalem in the same day for his funeral.

Everybody around, except those who set by his bed in his last days (and maybe they were too), were thinking about one the largest, it not the largest of his factories – Shas party. That’s, above many other things to my opinion, proves that we are more middle east country than we will ever admit.

Maran (a Jewish title for a big Rabbi), wasn’t a Prime Minister,a Minister or even a Knesset Member. But he was above all of the leaders of Shas Party, he was the Religious spiritual leader.

A religious party, with her religious leader are not part of the Western world as far as I know. But looking on the regimes around Israel, you can see plenty of those kind.

Take Care
