Hi,
After visiting the Samaritans on Mount Gerizim, we had a short visit to the 3 seas lookout no far away.
The lookout is placed on a summit 866 m above sea level, and as its name suggests, 3 seas can be seen from it:
Dead Sea, Sea of Galilee and the Mediterranean Sea. And some point of interest, such as the Sartaba.
Although its promising name, the 3 seas can only be seen in very good view conditions. In Hebrew, “Threes seas” also means “Three days,” and some say the name refers to the days in a year that the 3 seas can be seen (so than expect to this them all) ….
On top of the lookout, there is an IDF post with a tall pillbox to allow clear surveillance around the area (as the lookout located at the west bank)
The lookout sits on the highest point of the Gidonim ridge, named after Gideon, the judge and military leader whose tomb is believed to be in the middle of the ridge (not far away from the lookout). The top of the ridge is covered with Basalt rocks, and it might have been a volcano long time ago (not like the young volcanoes of the Golan)
Take Care
