Each time I visit the battalion command center, and the war room to write an order for another mission, there a siren. This time it was because of a rocket barrage fired toward Qiryat Shmona (that got countless hits in this war) and Kfar Blum.
There are 3 levels of alerts modes, and the highest one (alert mode 3) means you have to sit in protected area for the whole time. We were mad about the officer that push the siren alert, and said he can call out for alert mode 3, without turn on the siren and make us all scared. He, from his side, said he only push the button when something fired at us. “You mean that the dozen time you turned on the siren we were bombed?”, Yes, he said.
Sometimes, like in the rocket barrage today, there is no need for a siren alarm as you hear the rocket interceptions above your head and pieces falling down around the are. The siren is turned on, but that is only for the soldiers that sleep very good and deep in their beds, as the rest of the battalion soldiers were running for their life into the protected area.
When we were looking up to the sky, the whole event was more like a big firework celebration. The fireworks were of course the work of the Iron dome system, that managed to take all those 50 missiles launched at once. I did watched many interceptions of the Iron dome, but this was very light-full and exotic (if this is the right word here).
